Working principle of brake calipers

Brake calipers have the function of slowing down, stopping, or maintaining a stopped state of moving wheels, and are generally only used in disc brake systems. They are components that can enhance braking performance. The disc brake on a car is composed of a brake oil pump, a brake disc connected to the wheels, and a brake caliper on the disc. When braking, high-pressure brake oil pushes the piston inside the caliper, pressing the brake shoes towards the brake disc, resulting in a braking effect. It is usually recommended to replace the brake pads when the brake caliper has a mileage of 60-80000 kilometers.

Common faults and solutions of brake calipers:

Common faults:

(1) When there is an oil leakage problem with the caliper, the red brake warning light on the instrument panel lights up when the brake oil decreases.

(2) Poor or non return of the caliper.

Solution:

(1) Replace with a new brake pedal hose or brake caliper.

(2) It is usually due to problems with the return spring, brake oil pipe, or caliper that the brake does not respond and needs to be checked before replacement.
