Working principle of automobile oil cooler
The function of the oil cooler is to cool the lubricating oil and maintain the oil temperature within the normal operating range. On high-power reinforced engines, due to the high heat load, an oil cooler must be installed. When the engine is running, the viscosity of the oil decreases as the temperature increases, reducing the lubrication capacity. Therefore, some engines are equipped with oil coolers, which are used to lower the oil temperature and maintain a certain viscosity of the lubricating oil. The oil cooler is arranged in the circulating oil circuit of the lubrication system, and its working principle is the same as that of the radiator.
Causes and solutions of oil cooler faults
Reason for malfunction:
The most common cause of malfunction is inferior oil. Oil deterioration caused by prolonged use and delayed oil change. After prolonged use, the oil will lose its characteristics, unable to lubricate the engine properly, and will reach temperatures higher than allowed. The cause of the malfunction may also be the failure of the oil cooler itself due to material wear.
Solution:
The car should be replaced promptly after driving 5000 kilometers or six months. It is recommended to check the cooler assembly for oil leakage when changing the oil.
